Our History

The Knoxville Rider Education Program was established in September 1989 by Carroll and Pat Bales who are considered pioneers of Rider Education in the East Tennessee area. Carroll and Pat have been instrumental in developing and promoting Rider Education in Tennessee for the last 23 years.

The program, which began operation with one training site, now runs as many as seven sites per weekend and offers weekday training classes as well. Since receiving certification as a Chief Instructor in 1991, Carroll has not only been involved in training rider coaches, but also in quality assurance programs throughout the state. With a proud tradition of providing excellent programming and customer care, KREP continues to promote safer riding in our community.

As of 2003 the second generation Edward Bales followed his father’s footsteps and became rider coach as well with becoming a Rider Coach Trainer in 2012.

Edwards’s son Jordan became a Rider Coach in 2011 which made the only 3rd generation of MSF Rider Coaches in the nation at this time.
